There isn’t a millimeter of doubt that the most important thing in our lives are our children. Regardless of how successful you might be in your career, or how much you can be romantically in love with someone, the love and the dedication we feel to our children is the most powerful force in the Universe! There literally isn’t a thing a parent would do for his child, and there are reports of people getting superhuman strength and quickness, in moments when the lives of their children are endangered. It is not just about our emotions, our basic animalistic instincts tell us to protect our offspring at any cost, even if it means sacrificing our own life in the process. The society is also always encouraging the care for the children, and we have multiple institutions, in every country in the world, whose sole purpose is to protect the rights of children. It is not only our modern society that holds the interests of children above all, as children have been regarded the greatest treasure on the planet by every single human culture in history. Obviously, whit the evolution of the entire society, the children’s rights evolved too, so we should never compare the position of children now and before, but within a certain historical civilization.
Perhaps the most important part of parenting today, besides the obvious care for the mental and physical health of the child, is the education and development of creativity and intelligence in children. Not only are clothing, feeding and sheltering our obligations, we also have to make sure that our child grows up to be a functional and valuable addition to the society, an adult which can lead a happy and productive life. With formal education being obligatory, there is no more room for having second thoughts about it, but we can do so much more for our kids, in private “extra curriculum” activities.
You can encourage your kid to paint or play an instrument, if he has some artistic inclinations, or get him into sports if he enjoys the outdoors and physical activity. Buying them all the necessary tools can really encourage your child to devote the time to its hobby, and spend the free time creatively and productively, without being left to the street. With early incentives of the parents, a child’s talent may become his career one day, which will enable him to make a living doing what it loves to do! As an example, if your kid is into electronics, computers, engineering, you can get him some sort of a starter kit, including various electronic elements, and let him create a prototype of his own device! A PCB manufacturer today can make all kinds of custom printed circuit boards, making only the child’s imagination the limit! Use the internet to get all the necessary hobby items for your kid, and enable it to flourish and develop his mental and physical skills optimally. Who knows, perhaps your child is the next NBA superstar, the next Picasso, or the next Steve Jobs!
