    Please note all Foundation Instructor RCC applications will incur a cost of $150. AusCycling will invoice you for payment prior to processing the application.

     

    The AusCycling Foundation Instructor Course (FI) provides instructors with an introduction to the skills of instructing the selected cycling discipline(s) including the planning, implementation, analysis and revision of such skills sessions. This is achieved through application of the underpinning knowledge of the Sport Australia 'Community Coaching General Principles' Program in a manner specific to cycling.

    The Foundation Instructor will be able to provide service to clubs and individuals of skills instruction in the discipline(s) selected.

    NOTE* RCC to Foundation Instructor may only be approved to one selected discipline of cycling.

    As the applicant for RCC, you will be required to provide information and evidence on your sporting background, knowledge, training and instructing experience. Your application will be assessed based on the Foundation Instructor Course Learning Outcomes.

    • Please complete the following section in relation to your work experience, coaching or instructing, including any voluntary, unpaid, full-time or part-time work over the past 4 years. Please provide timelines (e.g. 2014) and clearly indicate which of the key learning outcomes you are addressing in this section.

       

      1 Identify the roles and responsibilities of the instructor, outlining the instructors ethical responsibilities while upholding their coaching philosophy.
      2 Understand and demonstrate the instructor in action using effective communication, group management and a game sense approach to develop skills and tactics.
      3 Identify the basic discipline specific cycling equipment and clothing required for training and racing, along with their effect on performance.
      4 Analyse a rider’s equipment and position and demonstrate how to perform basic bike set-ups relevent to the selected discipline.
      5 Identify the key introductory discipline specific skills and tactics. Describe correct performance and demonstrate how to effectively progress each skill and tactic.
      6 Establish and maintain safe and inclusive skills instruction environments by applying appropriate risk management.
      7 Plan, deliver and evaluate a series of introductory skills sessions that support rider development and prepare a rider for their first club event.
      8 Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and organisation of club, state/territory and national level competition in Australia including the various cycling discipline events, with awareness of both competitive and recreational events available to riders.
