    • You must be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:

    • 1 Act as a role model for your athletes by observing the AusCycling Coach’s Code of Behaviour and conduct yourself in an ethical manner at all times.
      2 Assess and manage the risks of coaching national level cyclists in training, travel and competition.
      3 Identify and arrange physiological performance assessment procedures that are appropriate to the needs of your riders (discipline, event/s, background, and other needs); interpret and apply assessment results in training and competition to enhance performance.
      4 Develop, implement, monitor and review an annual plan that is appropriate to the needs of an individual national championship level rider (discipline, event/s, background, other needs) – i.e. that will assist the rider to progress to targeted personal goals.
      5 Develop, implement, monitor and review an integrated training program to complement the annual plan and meet the specific individual needs of the national championship level rider/s.
      6 Plan, organise, conduct, review and, where necessary, adjust training activities and sessions to develop speed, strength, power and endurance and the technical, tactical and mental skills that are appropriate for the individual needs of national championship level riders (discipline, event/s, training background, time of training year).
      7 Plan, organise, conduct, review and, where necessary, adjust appropriate strategies to assess and monitor rider progression throughout the training year.
      8 Plan, organise, conduct, monitor, evaluate and modify as necessary recovery strategies that are appropriate to individual rider needs, while at home and away.
      9 Provide appropriate advice and feedback to riders on advanced bike set-up and equipment, nutrition, mental preparation, tactics and competition rules, anti-doping and travel and direct athletes to appropriate service providers for further assistance.
      10 Create and manage an effective team and an optimal environment for training and competition performance using effective communication, leadership, resource management and conflict resolution strategies.
      11 Educate riders on the rules of cycling competition, apply the rules as they pertain to competitive cycling and outline where to seek further assistance if required.
      12 Correctly set up a bike for an advanced level individual rider.
      13 Identify common cycling injuries and risk factors for common injuries; explain how they may be prevented or managed should they occur and direct riders to appropriate service providers for further assistance.
      14 Plan, organise and manage training camps and domestic competition participation and travel for national championship level riders, creating an optimal environment for performance.
