Answer: At r/HomeworkHelp, we take a very restrained approach towards rule-violating posts (especially Rule 1,3 and 4). We realise that if we remove all posts that violate our rules, we would be wiping off more than 70% of our posts in the front page. We therefore do not remove posts within the first 24 hours and approve them if they receive upvotes/answers. See our FAQ for more details.

Answer: We take a zero-tolerance stance towards irrelevancy for all top-level comments since it affects systematic flairing, depriving the asker from receiving help in a timely-fashion manner. They are expected to write their comments on u/HomeworkHelpBot comment thread instead.

Answer: Though it is strongly advisable for all our contributors to include a detailed explanation alongside the answer (preferably with the use of spoiler tags) and it was formerly an offence to submit the final answer, this subreddit has evolved to appreciate it taking into consideration the limits of a non-live text communication forum. See our FAQ for more details.

Answer: We do not and will not attempt to moderate the quality or validity of any answers. We leave it to users' curation (upvote/downvote).

This highly-upvoted post is well-received by the community, but it is a blatant violation of Rule 8. What should we do about it?

Answer: With the exception of Rule 1, 3 and 4 violation, we do not need to take a restrained approach to it. Nevertheless, if it is mutually beneficial to the community, we can try to turn a blind eye to it until the post is automatically removed or buried by users' inputs (interaction, curation, reports). In this case, that post was removed because the advertised app seemed to be for-profit since it has too many ads in-app.
