Introduction:Thank you for your interest in applying as a vendor for the WAK Arts & Crafts Market. Please read the following Rules and Regulations thoroughly before you submit your application. The WAK Arts & Crafts Marketis held from 10am to 8pm from 28 September through to 27 October 2019 at WAK’s Location X-traordinare which is the old Ting & Ting Supermarket in the city centre. All interested vendors will be vetted by the WAK management and willbe accorded prior approval before participating.
Categories of Works:All art work for sale must be handcrafted by the vendor and must fall into the following categories: ceramics, glass, graphics/printmaking, metalwork, photography, wood, drawing/pastels, jewellery (ornamental/costume), jewellery (precious metals), sculpture, fiber/textiles/batik, fiber (wearables), leather, painting (oil/acrylic/watercolour/mixed media). Items not falling into the above categories and ALL items to be sold must be declared in the ‘Location X Vendor’ form.
Right to Decline: WAK management reserves the right to decline participation approval based on products deemed irrelevant by WAK management or due to over-representation of one or more type of art and craft works already confirmed to be available at the WAK Arts& Crafts Market. If this occurs, the vendor will be placed on a waiting list.
Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance. WAK management reserves the right to refuse work that is not consistent with the declared items and the vendor may be asked to leave the WAK Arts& Crafts Market with no refund.
WAK Arts& Crafts Market is a curated arts and crafts market. The WAK management seeks artists and artisans who are accomplished in their medium, who are original and exciting in their ideas, and who will be an asset to the market overall. Originality and workmanship are highly favoured, especially in over-represented categories such as jewellery.
Application Process: Vendors must complete the‘Location X Vendor’ application form online for review. Reference to a website or social media platforms that focus on your items will be advantageous.
Rental & Deposit Payment: The rental rates and deposit payments are as follows:
Refundable Deposit* - RM100
Weekly Rental** - RM350 (Weeks 2, 3 & 4)
- RM450 (Week 1)
* This refundable deposit must be paid together with the weekly rental. WAK management reserves the right to forfeit this deposit in the event of non-adherence of the WAK Arts & Crafts Market terms and conditions by the respective vendor(s).
** Weekly rental includes 1 unit table measuring 8ft x 4 ft with table cloth; 2 units plastic chairs; 1 waste paper basket; standardised signage and a socket point for each vendor.
Once accepted into the market, all payments must be received by Wednesday, 25 September 2019 to confirm participation. All payments MUST be made via online transfer to this following account:

Week 1 (28 September to 6 October) – Tables 1 to 15: 9 days
Week 2 (7 October to 13 October) – Tables 1 to 15: 7 days
Week 3 (14 October to 20 October) – Tables 1 to 15: 7 days
Week 4 (21 October to 27 October) – Tables 1 to 15: 7 days
Table sharing: Vendors participating at the WAK Arts & Crafts Market are permitted to share their tables but to ensure good display and product range, are limited to no more than 2 artists per table. In such cases of sharing tables, all products to be showcased and sold by both artists MUST be declared to WAK management.
Allocation of Slots & Space: Vendors will be allotted weekly slots throughout the month of October. Pending availability vendors may be able to extend their participation subject to the same rental conditions. All dates and space allocation is at the absolute discretion of WAK management.
Images: All applicants are required to submit three (3) images of their artwork unless their work is represented on a website or social media platform. Images must be representative of the items that will be sold at the Arts Market.
No Cancellations & Refunds: No cancellations will be entertained after confirmation of participation. Vendors may, however, request for a change of the slot subject to availability. No-shows will result in forfeiture of table rental and deposit payment.
In the unlikely event of the WAK Arts& Crafts Market being officially cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, all payments will be refunded to vendors.
Set-Up/Take-Down: Set-up is scheduled in the morning of the event from 7:30am to 9am. Your table must be completely set up by 9am, when the market starts. Take down may not begin until 9pm each day.All vendors are required to be present for the duration of the event, except in cases of medical emergency or if prior arrangements have been made with the WAK management. Vendors who set up late or take down early risks forfeiture of their deposit payment and their participation at future events under WAK.
Display Adjustments:WAK management reserves the right to ask vendors to remove any of their items and to make alterations to their display if they are deemed unsuitable, create a hazard or for any other legitimate reason.
Car Parking: In the interest to deliver top customer service, car parks within Location X is to be used exclusively by customers and guests visiting the venue. Vendors and other service providers are urged to off load their goods and re-park at nearby carparks or at the multi storey carparking complex down the street. Vendors & service providers not adhering to this guideline may be ‘black listed’ for future events.
No Smoking Zone: The WAK Arts & Crafts Market is sited in an airconditioned space and is strictly a no smoking zone. Designated smoking areas can be found outside of the complex.
Cleanliness:Each vendor is responsible for cleaning up their space and dispose of any waste materials in the main receptacles provided at the end of each market day.
Sales Tax:Each vendor is responsible for paying all sales tax (if any) collected from sales made at the market to the appropriate entities.
Indemnity Clause:Neither the WAK management, WAK Arts & Crafts Market, nor the Sarawak Government the main sponsor of the event will be held responsible or liable for any damages or thefts to vendor’s property.
Photo & Video Capture:WAK management will assign photographers and videographers to capture images at the event. Pictures and video footages taken of vendors and/or vendor’s work and their clients may be used on social media to promote the Arts Market at any time.
Marketing Support:As a participant of the WAK Arts& Crafts Market, each vendor agrees to contribute to the overall marketing efforts by any means at their disposal, to include, but not be limited to, social media marketing and email distribution lists.
